Playlist 26.12.04 (5:24 pm)

Well! Tonight is Utility Fog's end-of-year wrap - as many of the top songs of 2004 as I can fit into one show. You may be interested to peek over at my blog, where I've posted an extremely long list of my favourite releases of 2004... There's no way in the world I could get through everything I wanted, and there'll be a bit of an overflow into next week...
Oh, and speaking of next week, tune in for a once-in-about-7-years Utility Fog - it happens to fall on my 31st birthday. So I'll be slightly loosening the genre constraints in order to bring you more gypsy, klezmer, indie-pop, punk, folk, dub, drum'n'bass, and anything else I feel like as well as your usual postfolkrocktronica and breakcore...
Starting tonight with a song on a boxing theme (well, it is "Boxing" Day) from 1984, followed by a track from 1994, and then we're into 2004!

Another week, another show... Crazy weather has rendered this weather-allergic presenter a little, well, "under the weather". Should nevertheless be able to bring you another fun-filled show. It's that time of the year where nothing much new is coming out, so we've just got all the goodies that were new in the last few weeks, plus digging up a couple of great old things like Future Sound of London's first record for Virgin (as Amorphous Androgynous)... Paul's Playlunch 06.12.04 (9:16 am)

Peter's Playlist for Paul's Playlunch
Paul Gough aka Pimmon managed to hit his head on Sunday morning and needed stitches - ouch! He rang me while I was at Frigid to ask if I could leave a note @ FBi saying he couldn't make it, and, er, could I possibly do the show for him?
Paul's show is my favourite on FBi - I listen religiously. So it was an honour and a pleasure to do it, even though I went a bit crazy, with not a lot of time to prepare. My theme was mothers and fathers.

The Books - motherless bastard [Tomlab]
Tall Dwarfs - Daddy [Flying Nun]
Pink Floyd - Mother [EMI]
Aphex Twin - Come To Daddy [Warp]
Kate Bush - Mother Stands For Comfort [EMI]
Tori Amos - Father Lucifer [Atlantic]
Weddings, Parties, Anything - Father's Day [Mushroom]
The Police - Mother [A&M]
Violent Femmes - Gimme The Car [Slash, recently re-released on Rhino]
Pop Will Eat Itself - Mother [RCA]
The Clouds - Motherson [Red Eye]
Sugarcubes - Mama [One Little Indian]
Tunng - Mother's Daughter [Static Caravan]

Starting with a long track - the classic "Towers of Dub" from the Orb, for no other reason than I felt like it. A rag-bag tonight, lots of great tunes, no specials that I can think of... Wish me luck waking up on time - it'll be an hour of mothers & fathers :)
