orgasming using sound (5:07 pm)

Yes, it’s bizarre search referral of the day.

And while we’re at it, can everyone who visits here even semi-regularly please note that the standard URL for it should now be http://www.frogworth.com/blog/ even though it remains for the moment (perhaps indefinitely) at http://www.fourplay.com.au/blog/ please! As both those domains are on the same server, the URLs point to the same documents, but you don’t need to know that! ;)

OK, get back to your aural orgasms now.

Unwire me (2:36 pm)

This is fucking excellent. Cory Doctorow and Charlie Stross are collaborating on another story, this time called “Unwirer”, and the collaboration is being mediated through a weblog. So you can watch the creative process unfold through the successive posts, and even make comments yourself. What I love about these guys is that they don’t just write about the transformed post-human future, but they’re actively pushing the creative boundaries through technology themselves.

Raven on Triple J (9:02 pm)

Just noticed that on the 13th of April the lovely Fenella played my Entropic remix [”Raven experiences Hardware malFUNKtion”, a remix of the Entropic track “Hardware”, featured on their Rendezvous remix album] on the Soundlab (playlist here). Great to get some Triple J exposure for the Raven name - Fenella’s great, and has been very supportive of my electronica…

By george! It’s FourPlay! (12:39 am)

Funny - while searching Google in creative ways for FourPlay, I stumbled across this live review of one of our support gigs with george at the Prince of Wales in Melbourne, back in April last year. Not sure how I missed that one - thanks to Girl Android for the lovely review :)

Protest Records (10:51 pm)

Thurston Moore has setup an mp3 label called Protest Records where you can download some top quality mp3s on an anti-war bent. Find two songs by Cat Power, Gary Lucas proving beyond all doubt that he wrote a large part of Jeff B’s Grace, Jim O’Rourke & Glenn Kotche, Chumbawamba, Mudhoney, and of course Sonic Youth themselves among huge numbers more. Oh and a demo by Brazilian protest singer Tom Zé called “Companheiro Bush”. All free! All good.

Thoughtful words from the peace camp (9:27 pm)

In case you were even half-convinced that the celebration on the streets of Baghdad is vindication for the war-hawks, Guy Rundle gives us this thoughtful article in today’s SMH - a much-needed antidote to the odious bitch Miranda Devine.

Stop me if you’ve heard this one before (5:16 pm)

You’ve probably read this before, but if you haven’t, here’s Steve Albini’s celebrated piece on why the music industry sucks.

“I can’t stand the useless fools (E.M.I.)” (12:40 pm)

Triple J caves in to EMI only a couple of days after a staff member had downloaded tracks from the leaked Radiohead album off the net. I must admit I didn’t even know they were playing it as I don’t listen to commercial radio (oh the irony! If only I wasn’t being deadly serious…)

The British band’s album, titled with what must be unintended irony as Hail to the Thief, is not due for release until June9.

“Unintended” irony? I think not! They claim that the title does in fact refer (in a not unfriendly fashion) to file-sharing programs… But whatever. I haven’t listened to it all yet, but it sounds pretty good. I’m looking forward to getting the album when it’s finally out (as I nearly always do with stuff I’ve downloaded pre-release, and indeed I often do with albums I’m given promo copies of, if the artwork is neutered or tracklisting changes…)

Virulent ABC! (11:07 pm)

Glad to see someone’s taken April Fool’s day in their stead. Graham has truly, as acb comments, outdone himself!
