One of these days these days will end

One of greatest bands ever, The Silver Jews, have just played their last show. I was still holding out hope that I would get to see them play live, and frustratingly there are rumours that there were attempts to get them to Australia for ATP. I’m also disappointed that there’ll be no more albums, all of them are great, including last year’s Lookout Mountain, Lookout Sea. Oh well, I wish David Berman the best in whatever he does next. Here is their last song at their last show

More from The Don, who mentions a plan I had to somehow convince someone to put up a statue of David Berman in Adelaide in the hope that it would make a tour more likely. The inspiration was passing through Warracknabeal where they are supposedly planning a Nick Cave statue.

  1. The Don says:

Listening to American Water last night I re-realised it’s one of the greatest albums ever. Silver Jews forever!

Here’s crossing fingers Dave Berman speaks at an Adelaide Writer’s Week sometime soon. His poetry, as you’d expect, is brilliant and his songwriting has taken on a more story-telling perspective.

BTW, a great interview (well, monologue) with DCB plus some songs:
