And so it was that they came down from the mountain, and they listened to the radio, and they heard many great things. Among the things they heard were free things, of which they were informed, and other things of which it was well worth paying moneys. Thus it be. In other news, I’m away for the next two weeks. Gabrielle Nicholson is sitting in next Sunday (March 2nd), and Angela Stengel the following (March 9th) and I’m back after that. Both of them will keep the Utility Fog sounds coming, so you’ll probably just think I’ve turned female (you never know). Jürgen Knieper - The Sky Over Berlin [Mute] Sunday, 17th of February, 2008

ii’s debut(!) album landlakes is finally out, so an old and a new track from them to start with. Somethink from Bradford Cox’s amazing and growing archive of downloadble stuff from the Deerhunter blog along with also something from his Atlas Sound album, which is coming out at the end of this week (or so). ii - beofre [Steady Cam] Sunday, 10th of February, 2008

Welcome to the latest edition of Utility Fog, FBI’s nanotechnological aural journey. Your bionic host Peter Hollo has coalesced out of the swarm of tiny robots that is his normal form in order to sit behind the desk and bring you - yes, YOU - the best in postfolkrocktronica. Because otherwise, who would? WHO? Autechre - Altibzz [Warp]

Utility Fog teeters on the cusp between acoustic and electronic, organic and digital. Constantly changing and rearranging, this aural cloud of nanotech will take you from deep within the world of post-rock (where live musicians sometimes sound like machines), through the realms of folktronica (where acoustic instruments are chopped and processed into new forms) and into the outer reaches of idm and experimental electronica (where artificial intelligences skitter and crackle, and may just pull at your heart-strings). Since all these genre names are already pretty ridiculous, we thought we'd coin a new one. So "postfolkrocktronica" it is. Wear it. We got tasty rss2, rss or atom feeds - get Utility Fog playlists in your favourite RSS reader/aggregator. Other FBi Radio shows with blogs/online playlists: Fat Planet Vertigo Oh no! It's Levins!
