Uh-oh, it’s the night before Christmas… Now, let’s be straight: I hate Christmas. But I love the Cocteau Twins, and this first song was reissued on their beautiful Lullabies to Violaine boxed set of singles & EPs this year, so here goes! Cocteau Twins - Frosty the Snowman [Mercury] Sunday, 17th of December, 2006
Playlist 17.12.06 (9:29 pm)
Evening! Starting with a bit of a Middle-Eastern feel, and going from faster tempos (although they may not feel that way) into the slower morass of dubstep, where I’ll sit for a few tracks at the start of the show instead of later on, and then we’ll get into some more indie/postrock things and some other nice stuff… Later on, some beautiful French indie/postrock from Gypsophile and Funckarma & Kettel team up for Dutch electronica bliss as Scone. Plus another belated bit of dubsteppy stuff when Various Production remix their label-mate, one Thom Yorke. And speaking of remixes, Funkstörung’s latest remix album (which means them remixing other people) is apparently going to be their last release. We have a preview track from that album later on tonight as well. The The - Sweet Bird Of Truth (12″ version) [Epic] Sunday, 10th of December, 2006

Good evening. Just flew in from Tasmania, mania being the operative word. Iron & Wine - On Your Wings [Sub Pop] Thursday, 7th of December, 2006
Playlist 03.12.06 (6:12 pm)
Thanks to Shannon & Adrian aka Wake Up And Listen for filling in on the show on Sunday. Here’s their playlist, as usual featuring lots of great plunderphonics and other goodness. Negativland - Introduction, Witness for the Documentation

Utility Fog teeters on the cusp between acoustic and electronic, organic and digital. Constantly changing and rearranging, this aural cloud of nanotech will take you from deep within the world of post-rock (where live musicians sometimes sound like machines), through the realms of folktronica (where acoustic instruments are chopped and processed into new forms) and into the outer reaches of idm and experimental electronica (where artificial intelligences skitter and crackle, and may just pull at your heart-strings). Since all these genre names are already pretty ridiculous, we thought we'd coin a new one. So "postfolkrocktronica" it is. Wear it. We got tasty rss2, rss or atom feeds - get Utility Fog playlists in your favourite RSS reader/aggregator. Other FBi Radio shows with blogs/online playlists: Fat Planet Vertigo Oh no! It's Levins!
