Playlist 24.09.06 (10:08 pm)
Tonight we start with a gorgeous piece by Edward Droste of Grizzly Bear’s great-aunt Marla Forbes that forms the basis of their wonderful track “Marla”… We’ve got some rare Final Fantasy (who did the strings for that Grizzly Bear track), in this case covering Joanna Newsom; re-released Bola available for the first time on CD, and a variety of other new things… Marla Forbes - “Of Course You Can’t Go Without That” [found on the internet] Sunday, 17th of September, 2006
Playlist 17.09.06 (10:14 pm)
Tonight, only a few new bits & pieces: we’ve got the album from Automotive, which is a new alias for Funckarma, released on Sydney’s own Couchblip! label… We’ve got a few new and newish dubstep tracks, and some more reissued Coil (of which more next week)… Haven’t had a chance to really delve into the new Xiu Xiu album yet, but played one track off it which I loved when they played here a little while ago. Grizzly Bear - Marla [Warp] Sunday, 10th of September, 2006
Playlist 10.09.06 (10:12 pm)
Evenin’ all. Nice to be back. The Bad Plus - Prehensile Dream [Sony] Sunday, 3rd of September, 2006
Playlist 03.09.06 (10:49 pm)
Peter’s away in Taswegia this week, so Kit Brash is in for his annual fill-in slot, and updating the playlist periodically throughout the show. Keep listening for a potted history of the Apache break, some hastily bashed-together mashups, and comics writer Alan Moore’s latest musical release. The Twilight Singers - Verdi-Marte [Columbia] Links to come later!

Utility Fog teeters on the cusp between acoustic and electronic, organic and digital. Constantly changing and rearranging, this aural cloud of nanotech will take you from deep within the world of post-rock (where live musicians sometimes sound like machines), through the realms of folktronica (where acoustic instruments are chopped and processed into new forms) and into the outer reaches of idm and experimental electronica (where artificial intelligences skitter and crackle, and may just pull at your heart-strings). Since all these genre names are already pretty ridiculous, we thought we'd coin a new one. So "postfolkrocktronica" it is. Wear it. We got tasty rss2, rss or atom feeds - get Utility Fog playlists in your favourite RSS reader/aggregator. Other FBi Radio shows with blogs/online playlists: Fat Planet Vertigo Oh no! It's Levins!
