Playlist 07.12.03 (1:49 pm)

For my return, lots of new stuff in evidence, as well as a bunch of quite old stuff. It's all about balance ya know. The new b. fleischmann CD is one of the releases of the year - only got to play one track today, so more coming next week! Other new stuff will be explored next week, and a special long interview with Efrim from A Silver Mt Zion is coming too - not this week as previously planned. We did have a special on Jimmy Taborello aka Dntel, half of The Postal Service & a third of Figurine... We had a remix of Radiohead by Christian Vogel (since FBi is playing the wonderful Four Tet mix quite a bit), followed by his duo Super_Collider with Jamie Lidell, and an examination of how much an influence Messiaen has had on Jonny Greenwood of Radiohead... And on it goes, with some awesome new ragga jungle at the end too.

Talking Heads - The Great Curve [Sire]
Four Tet - As Serious As Your Life (Remix 2) [Domino]
Jonny Greenwood - 24 hour charleston [Parlophone] {The Jonny link is a hilarious fan-site... the Radiohead link below is a perhaps a little more official, but not for the man's solo work...}
Radiohead - Remyxomatosis (Christian Vogel RMX) [Parlophone]
Super_Collider - It Won't Be Long [Loaded Records]
Justin Robertson Presents Revtone - Love Movement (Ulrich Schnauss Remix) [Bugged Out!]
b. fleischmann - pass by [Morr Music/Charizma]
EOG - Bolnes 1 [dub]
EU - Turt [Pause_2]
Ruby - Beefheart (Wauvenfold Remix) [Wichita Recordings]
Lexis - Hypnotise (Autechre slow mix) [Certificate 18]
Tristeza - A Little Distance (Dntel Remix) [Tiger Style/Rocket Racer]
Dntel - Loneliness Is Having No One To Miss [Phthalo]
The Postal Service - Natural Anthem [Sub Pop]
James Figurine - The Life [Catmobile Records]
Dntel feat. Mia Doi Todd - Anywhere Anyone (Nobody remix) [Plug Research]
Mia Doi Todd - Growing Pains (Dntel Remix) [Plug Research]
Flaming Lips - Do You Realise? (Postal Service Remix by Jimmy Tamborello) [Warner Bros]
Dntel - Don't Get Your Hopes Up (w/ Meredith Figurine) [Rocket Racer]
A Silver Mt Zion - 13 angels standing guard 'round the side of your bed. [Constellation]
Olivier Messiaen - excerpts from mvts 5 & 8 of his Quartet for the End of Time, performed by Vera Beths (vln), Anner Bijlsma (cello), George Pieterson (clarinet) & Reinbert de Leeuw (piano) [Philips Classical]
Jonny Greenwood - Iron Swallow [Parlophone]
Ninetynine vs qwertykeith - Kinetic Factory [from Keith's unreleased remixes of the entire Ninetynine album The Process, entitled The Processed, and downloadable from the link]

Telefon Tel Aviv - What It Is Without The Hand That Wields It [Hefty Records]
Flim - Above Seagulls [Plinkity Plonk]
Can - Oh Yeah [Spoon Records/Mute]
Squarepusher - Tundra [Rephlex]
Aphex Twin - Milkman [Warp Records]
DJ C feat. Capleton - Conscience A Heng Dem (Aaron Spectre remix) [Mashit] {Download an mp3 of the track from here (it's the eoss ragga-jungle mix) or here, but it's well worth getting the wax, say from Hrvatski's Mimaroglu Music Sales...}
Soundmurderer & SK-1 feat. Wayne Lonesome - Whowanseekwar (Rewind Mix) [Shockout]
65daysofstatic - I'm Dreaming of a White Noise Christmas (Christina) [available for download here]

    hey peter

    although my thoughts count for very little given that I can't listen to the show living in the UK, I would have to applaud the continuing quality of Utility Fog as it appears in your playlists. Especially good to see Messiaen rubbing shoulders with many fine breakbeat producers. I thoroughly recommend continuing to exploit the crossover appeal between modern classical pieces and the whole IDM scene of the last 10 years.

    PS have you received my latest extreme pumpkin CD, sent 2 about weeks ago?
