Utility Fogpostfolkrocktronica, from granular pop to orchestral breakcore and beyond... Sunday nights from 10pm to 1am on FBi Radio, 94.5 FM in Sydney, Australia. {Hey! Sign up to Utilityfoglet and get playlists emailed to you after each show!} Monday, 20th of October, 2003
Playlist 19.10.03 (3:14 pm)
The usual anomalous beginning to the show this week. Dedicated the first two songs to the usurper king George Bush, on the eve of his visit to Australia to meet his little buddy Johnny and seal with a kiss the free trade deal that will make Australia the 50+Nth state of the USA… More at Stop Dubya. Midnight Oil - US Forces [Sony Music (although my copy says CBS *smile*)] One Response to “Playlist 19.10.03”

Utility Fog teeters on the cusp between acoustic and electronic, organic and digital. Constantly changing and rearranging, this aural cloud of nanotech will take you from deep within the world of post-rock (where live musicians sometimes sound like machines), through the realms of folktronica (where acoustic instruments are chopped and processed into new forms) and into the outer reaches of plunderphonics, idm and breakcore (where jungle breaks splatter against the bleeding remains of yesterday's and today's pop). Since all these genre names are already pretty ridiculous, we thought we'd coin a new one. So "postfolkrocktronica" it is. Wear it. This was a superb show - one that I wish I’d recorded. Thanks
