And now… Lorana sent this (1:45 pm)
And now… Lorana sent this to me, as she says, “from that treasure-trove of fun, Hansard…” Blogger is fucked-up and limits the length of posts, and trying to split it up led to annoyances, so go and read this wonderful vitriolic speech about Little Johnny Howard, our illustrious PM, by Tony Albanese (Labor Member for Grayndler).

OK, today we have a (1:18 pm)
OK, today we have a whole lot of links without much commentary, to make way for a big quote which all Australians have to read ;) and I wish they’d all seen it before the election. But the quote had to be put on another page anyway – see post below. But first… You can toddle over to the ABC site and read a great interview. John Clarke & Brian Dawes in fine form.

Couple of Sydney Morning Herald (11:06 pm)
Couple of Sydney Morning Herald links for your delectation today… And speaking of The Greens, my old friend Kerry Nettle, a damn fine trumpet player as it happens, is almost definitely going to get a Senate seat in New South Wales, which is utterly fantastic! A dedicated 27-year-old female Green senator! She’s “Quietly confident”, but not assuming anything until it’s all counted. There’s a chance of two other Greens getting into the Senate, a distant chance, but it’d be pretty superb. So I’m not all that distressed really. I hope that the ALP get their act together before the next election. And maybe dump Crean before they get there…

Here’s a very good article (10:55 am)
Here’s a very good article from Hugh Mackay, showing what a bunch of morons the Australian public is, and what a bunch of assholes our re-elected government is. What a fucking shame. Mind you, I’m extremely pleased at the large Green vote this year, and was most impressed with Bob Brown’s speech on ABC on election night. All in all, it’s not like Labor deserved to win either, and really the Greens, apart from having fantastic policies on almost all fronts, were the only left-wing alternative. Labor have become so conservative it’s depressing.

In case you haven’t heard, (5:56 pm)
In case you haven’t heard, you can read all about it now at Margo Kingston’s latest webdiary. Remember how we were told, around a month ago, how those darn’ refugees were throwing their children overboard in an attempt to get our attention (or something equally questionable)? Well now it seems pretty clear it was a complete fabrication… The scary thing is that at any other time this would be enough to take a government down good and proper. I mean as if we didn’t know already, but what more proof do we need that Johnny Howard, Peter Reith and Phillip Ruddock (the worst of the lot?) are complete assholes? Margo’s convinced it won’t make a zot of difference though, and I’m wondering myself. Since you asked, I’m voting Green then Democrat then whatever else seems ok, then Labor and then Liberal and all the other right-wing bastards. I’m voting under the line in the senate. Kerry Nettle of the Greens gets my #1 spot, and then we’ll see between Greens and Democrats, and so on shall we go. But no Liberal will get my preferences however it goes, don’t you worry!

Chris Breach has pointed out (10:29 pm)
Chris Breach has pointed out to me a brilliant piece of culture jamming currently available at the Warp Records website. So either go there (and wade through the beautiful Designers Republic flash stuff) or download it via this direct link: bushwhacked. A Dubyah cut-up, it’s uncredited but it’s widely assumend to be the work of all-round media satire genius Chris Morris.

OK!!! So I’ve finally taken (10:04 pm)
OK!!! So I’ve finally taken up Graham’s invitation and contributed my first review to his excellent Records Ad Nauseam (RAN) reviews page. This one’s of DJ/rupture’s GOLD TEETH THIEF mix, which can still be found at Soot records‘ website as two mp3s. I raved about it on this blog a little while back, and rave about it some more now! More news would probably be justified, but then so would an entire re-design, so let’s get that done soon maybe?!!!

Reading:Note, my earlier book reviews, and this applies somewhat to the music reviews too, were formatted as a long stream of commentary, and thus need a lot of rewriting to fit into separate entries. So there are very few previous book review entries as yet. For now check the static Reviews Archive for a bunch of earlier reviews. Listening:Monthly archives:
